Driving Directions
Directions from Knoxville
- Take Interstate I-75S to exit 60 (Route 68). At end of exit ramp turn right onto 68N.
- Follow 68 North for 10.3 miles. RT 305 is 9.3 miles. You will take the first left turn after the turn off for RT 305
(Athens). So the turn is 1 mile after the RT 305 turn off. The visible street sign is on the right and it says Sliger Rd. The
road on the left is Centerpoint Rd and that’s the road you’ll turn onto.
- Follow Centerpoint for 4.2 miles. Turn left onto Ward Road.
- Follow Ward Road for .7 miles. Take a right (across from the rustic duplexes) and drive up towards the house in front of
you – the Volunteer House and you’ll see the parking lot on the right.
Directions from Chattanooga via I-75N
- Take Interstate I-75N to Athens, Tennessee - Exit 49.
- At the end of the ramp take a left onto Route 30W (away from town).
- From the traffic lights (right by Homestead Inn) keep on 30W for 7.3 miles.
- At 7.3 miles you’ll come to the first intersection in a while. Take that right hand turn onto North No Pone Valley Road
(left is South No Pone Valley Road).
- This is a country road so curvy in places, so please, drive carefully.
- About 3 miles down the road on the right hand side you’ll pass Walnut Grove Church, once past there follow the road a
short distance (3/10ths of a mile or so) until it curves sharply to the right.
- At that bend in the road bear left (seems more like you’re going straight ahead) onto Ward Road (please watch for
oncoming cars) rather than following the curve in the road.
- Once on Ward Road, you have about 1. 5 more miles to go. As you approach just past the 1-mile mark you’ll see a split
rail fence on the right. You’ll soon see rustic duplex apartments on the right and the Homestead sign on the left. Take
the left and drive up towards the house in front of you – the Volunteer House and you’ll see the parking lot on the right.
Directions from Chattanooga via Highway 58N
- Take 58N driving through the town of Decatur. From the Southeast Bank (on the right) go 3.5 miles and take a right onto
Centerpoint Road.
- Drive 1 mile and take your first right onto Ward Road.
- Follow Ward Road for .7 miles. Take a right (across from the rustic duplexes) and drive up towards the house in front of
you – the Volunteer House and you’ll see the parking lot on the right.
Directions from Nashville Airport
- Leave the airport on Donelson Pike North for about a mile to I-40.
- Take I-40 east, RIGHT (toward Knoxville) to Kingston
- Exit at #352, RIGHT and follow to Highway 58 South
- Take Hwy 58 South about 22 miles to the junction with Hwy 68. There is a 4-way stop with an Exxon station on the
corner. Turn LEFT onto Hwy 68.
- Continue about 1 mile to the first intersection (at night look for the street light). This is Centerpoint Road (the sign is
not easily visible from the road), turn RIGHT.
- Take Centerpoint Road for 4.2 miles to Ward Road, on left, Turn LEFT.
- Follow Ward Road for .7 miles. Take a right (across from the rustic duplexes) and drive up towards the house in front of
you – the Volunteer House and you’ll see the parking lot on the right.
